Duncan McLean - Candidate for Waterloo City Council - Ward 7
I have been very fortunate to have lived, studied or worked in the Uptown for close to 40 years and believe I have the passion for public service, professional skills and understanding for the community to represent you and work effectively for you on Waterloo City Council.
Our community is very fortunate to have a vibrant Uptown core. A lot has changed over the years. But one constant remains – Uptown is the heart and soul of our community. The health of our city is driven by the success of neighbourhoods and business in this ward.
There are many exciting new projects and developments underway. These will be beneficial to us all, but these changes will bring challenges and mean we need strong leadership and voices to ensure there is a balance between growth and the quality of life we have come to expect and enjoy.
Open and transparent communications between the community and City Hall will be essential moving forward. I am committed to utilizing regular town hall meetings, newsletters and new technologies to ensure your voice and concerns are heard at City Hall every day.
The issues that are of concern to me and I look forward to discussing with you are:
•Sustainable finances and a stable tax environment
•Quality of life – addressing behavioural issues more aggressively
•Responsible and progressive development with a focus on environmental leadership
•Funding and supporting core services such as library services, sports & culture
•Focus on repairing our crumbling infrastructure – parks, roads, sidewalks and buildings
It would be an honour to serve as your ward councillor on the next Waterloo city Council. I believe that my community knowledge,
professional skills and practical life experiences will allow me to serve you effectively.
